Two top-level duels

This weekend, the Pro League will have two clashes that promise to make sparks fly. On the one hand, a dress rehearsal for the Champions Playoffs between Antwerp and Club Brugge, on the other hand, the KAA Gent will welcome Anderlecht, who have just dropped out of the top 6.

Royal Antwerp – Club Brugge

Both teams are coming off a disappointing draw against a candidate for the Play-Downs. Brugge tied at home for the third time this season against KV Kortrijk while Antwerp were held to a draw against Sint-Truiden.

In the leaderboard, Club Brugge are the only team that are managing to stay close to the leader from Genk. Antwerp, who are in fifth place, need to watch out for the duel between Standard and KAA Gent, who are both getting closer to number 1.

This season, Blauw Zwart won at home in their first clash. And not only that, they are also the best away team in the championship.

But still watch out for fatigue because this Wednesday they will play a decisive match against Manchester City while Antwerp have a whole week to prepare for the match.

KAA Gent – RSC Anderlecht

Here is a clash that could become one of the turning points of the season. KAA Gent may have been in the top 6 since the start, but they keep losing points. They were finally overtaken by Standard last weekend following another draw in Leuven as the Rouches were victorious against Dender. The pressure is now on, the Buffalos can no longer afford to lose points, while Standard go up against Cercle Brugge.

As for the Mauves, the level of play varies dangerously between goal avalanche and worrying drought. It’s simple, you can never predict which side of Anderlecht we will see.

At home, KAA Gent aren’t doing well while the team from Brussels are doing well away. The Mauves are keeping up the momentum, even if like Brugge, they have a match with Europe during the week and will try to qualify for the Europa League round of 16.
