Pro League: end of the regular season

This Sunday, the JPL’s 30th and final matchday will have all fixtures taking place at once, at 18:30. Except for a beautiful Standard – Antwerp match at 13:30, where nothing is at stake, and Genk – Union on Saturday night that promises a fiery show. Who will take the psychological upper-hand before the Playoffs and who will manage to dodge the Playdowns?

No surprise for these Champions PO

This season, the top 6 is obvious. Even though Standard kept the illusion, their weak scores against the top teams and their uneven game costed them 6th place in aid of KAA Gent, who have been much steadier throughout the season. Regarding all the other teams, there hasn’t been any doubt about them taking part in the Champions Playoffs for a while now.

Genk are towering over the leaderboard and are ahead of Club Brugge by 10 points, and Union Saint-Gilloise by 11. And while we’re at it, Limburg will welcome Brussels in the Cegeka Arena on Sunday night for a duel that’s already feeling like the Playoffs. Who will get the psychological upper-hand? On their side, the Club will receive Charleroi, who are determined to get ahead of Standard before the beginning of the Europe Playoffs.

There, we already know most of the teams: Standard, Charleroi and KV Mechelen have already secured their spot and only a true disaster could get Westerlo and OHL in the Playdowns, where clashes will rage during this last regular season matchday.

Who will take part in the Playdowns?

While Beerschot and the KV Kortrijk’s fates have long been sealed, Sint-Truiden and Cercle Brugge are currently in the danger zone, with respectively 32 points for Brugge and 31 for Sint-Truiden. Though Westerlo and Leuven, with 34 points, seem to have made a good enough start to keep their spot, Dender and their 32 points are in danger more than ever.

On Westerlo’s side, an away match against Beerschot who have nothing left to play for should seal the deal. For Cercle, an adventurous away match in Lotto Park is waiting for them. They’ll have to give it their all in hopes of dodging the Playdowns.

OH Leuven, on their side, will welcome Sint-Truiden though only 3 points stand in between both teams. This clash is crucial for the leaderboard’s positions, so keep a close eye on it.

Finally, the KV Mechelen – Dender match is promising to be a fiery one, since Dender have no other choice but to win if they want to choose their own fate.

At Circus Sport, it will be raining best odds on this weekend’s fixtures!
