Get ready for a spectacular Tour de France!
A new edition of the Tour de France is about to begin. The yellow, green, white and polka dot jerseys are ready to find their owners. Introducing the 2025 Tour and its favorites!
The route
For the first time since 2020, this year’s riders won’t pass through any country other than France. No stages in Belgium, Switzerland or Spain in 2025. The route will be divided into 21 stages, with two time trials and two rest days.
To kick things off, the first phase comprising 11 stages will start in Lille and focus on the northern part of the country, then gradually shift to the northwest with the Mur-de-Bretagne climb. This phase also includes a 33 km time trial in the fifth stage.
After the first rest day, it’s time to take on the Pyrenees. From Toulouse to Carcassonne, riders will have to complete an 11 km time trial in the mountains that will likely leave the sprinters a bit sore. The climbers are sure to love it, though!
Finally, after the second rest day, it’s on to five stages in the Alps, with three mountain stages that will put riders’ bodies to the test. And of course, it wouldn’t be the Grande Boucle without the exhilarating finish on the Champs-Élysées.
Overall, this year’s Tour offers a fairly balanced route with six mountain stages, six hilly stages and seven flat stages.
The favorites
As for the favorites, three riders are likely to dominate the discussion. Like last year, Tadej Pogačar will be the big favorite. After wins in 2020, 2021 and 2024, the Slovenian looks set to do it again. Flanked by some very good teammates on UAE Team Emirates, he’s got what it takes to dominate the field once again.
Next up, Jonas Vingegaard has already proven with his victories in 2022 and 2023 that he can beat Pogačar and win the Tour. Needless to say, the Dane has his eye on adding another win this year. The Jumbo-Visma rider is expected to particularly excel in the mountain stages. After coming in second in 2024, will he win back his yellow jersey this year?
Finally, a Belgian rider may be ready to make a splash as well. Remco Evenepoel is aiming to win his first Grande Boucle this year. As a leading specialist and world champion in time trials, he’ll be looking to shine in those stages to gain some time on the clock.
All throughout the Tour, Circus Sport will be offering you a +20% LIVE BetXtra for each stage. You can also take part in our free daily quiz. At the end of each of the three phases, €1,000 will be up for grabs.
