Has the final come early?

We're already at the final four for this Club World Cup. As expected, the European teams dominate with 3 teams left. But like a small Gallic village, Fluminense have resisted to represent South America. A new challenge approaches, while in the distance, a clash of titans is brewing.

Chelsea – Fluminense

After qualifying second in their group with a lovely draw against Dortmund, Fluminense then eliminated Inter, the European runners-up. Finally, it was Al Hilal who got a taste of their football.

Chelsea's journey has been fairly uneventful. Despite a surprise defeat to Flamengo, the Blues easily advanced from their group before seeing off Benfica and Palmeiras to reach the semifinals.

Bare in mind, it took an own goal at the end of the match from a Palmeiras player to qualify with a timid 1-2. It seems Brazilian football is causing problems for Londoners. But playing style may not be the only cause of these difficulties. European teams struggle with the climate in some stadiums where it is incredibly hot and muggy. Something that Brazilian teams are more accustomed to.

Finally, we can't forget that for the European teams, this competition comes at the end of the season, while for Brazilian teams, it's only just beginning. So it only makes sense that the Chelsea players' legs are heavier. The Blues are still the favorites, but these factors could well see Fluminense spring another upset.

PSG – Real Madrid

They are the two best teams in the tournament. European champion PSG and Real Madrid have mastered all the obstacles with flying colors and are already in what many consider to be an early final.

First of all, Paris crushed Inter Miami, before coming through against Bayern, who gave the Parisians a tough time. It's been a long time since we've seen Luis Enrique's men in such difficulty.

Then the White House regains… color. The return of an up-and-coming coach and former captain of the club, Xabi Alonso, has shown in just a few matches that this squad has everything it takes to dominate again.

Led by its new recruits as well as highly talented young players, who the new coach has confidence in, Real won its group and has just eliminated Juventus and then Borussia Dortmund by dominating both matches.

This PSG – Real match will also mark the reunion between Mbappé and his former club. Although, we'll have to see about that. The Frenchman has been ill since the start of the competition and hasn't yet started a match on the pitch. His understudy, the young Gonzalo Garcia, has really risen to the occasion and is currently the competition's top goalscorer.
