Formula 1: An already epic 2025 Spa Grand Prix!

After being on break for a few weeks, Formula 1 is back for another crazy weekend. And what a weekend it will be, as the competition intensifies on the legendary Spa-Francorchamps circuit! As usual, the rain might also make an appearance...

McLaren.. and the rest?

One team has been on everybody's lips this season: McLaren. They won last season's constructors after a crazy comeback in the second half of the championship. The Woking stable has developed a car that dominates on almost every circuit. Flexible wing, water in the tires... many accusations were made, but the FIA has ruled that everything is legal; the vehicle is simply better.

In the 2025 constructor's leaderboard, the Papayas are dominating:

1.      McLaren (460 pts)

2.      Ferrari (222 pts)

3.      Mercedes (210 pts)

4.      Red Bull (172 pts)

Spa hasn't been the highlight for McLaren in the past few years, but the rain forecast for this weekend might tip the balance in their favor. During the last rainy Grand Prix, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri easily finished first and second, with their car performing particularly well in the rain.

Several favorites for the crown

Of course, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris are the first on the list. The McLaren duo are battling it out for the driver's title. While Piastri has never hidden his love for the Spa circuit, Lando will want to make his Belgian mum proud.

On top of that, Russell and Hamilton were racing to the top last year and finished their race on the top 2 spots of the podium, even if George was disqualified after the race. This season, the Mercedes is the second best car and Russell is having a stellar season. For Lewis, it's a little more difficult at Ferrari, but we know how this British talent performs in the rain. On top of that, he's never finished further down that 4th place in Spa in his whole career.

Finally, it's impossible to forget Max Verstappen, half Belgian, talented in the rain and wholly uncompromising on the track. Don't give Mad Max any hope, or he might just get the Dutch national anthem playing.
