Pro League: Second matchday, first insights?

After a first matchday where only four teams got the three points, this second matchday could bring the first insights into this new season.

Four winners

Anderlecht, Sint-Truiden, Standard and Club Brugge are the four teams who are sitting at the top of the standings after this first matchday.

Standard made the difference in one half against the newly promoted RAAL without their supporters. During the first 30 minutes, Rednic's men impressed with their tactics and the technical finesse, before losing their intensity and ideas as the match went on. Despite this, the result was overall positive and the Rouches will now go against Dender in front of their fans to try and confirm their success.

Anderlecht put on a great performance that will reassure their fans ahead of their trip to Cercle Brugge, where they will try to build on their strong start to the season. It's the same story for Club Brugge, who, like last season, have the upper hand over Genk, thanks in large part to the outstanding Simon Mignolet. They now need to confirm against Mechelen, a team that stumbled against newly promoted Zulte Waregem.

Finally, Sint-Truiden, thanks to a goal from Bertaccini, who was perhaps playing his last minutes for the Trudonnaires, spoiled Ivan Leko's debut at KAA Gent by scoring two winning goals late in the game. This weekend, we're heading to... Charleroi!

Points for the taking

In fact, Charleroi fumbled their start in the competition. Without two goals in stoppage time, the Carolos would have lost in Leuven. Although the point might feel like a win, there's no doubt they need the 3 points this weekend.

It's a whole other story for Genk. Despite a match where they dominated and could have scored many more goals, the team from Limburg lost in Bruges on set pieces. They now need to get their first points against Antwerp, who drew against Union.

Finally, Gent clearly didn't get off to a good start and they need to make it up against RAAL. Even if Leko was patient, given the lack of satisfactory transfers so far, he will have no excuses if his team loses to the newly promoted team.
