Pro League: Unlucky Genk, a duel for the lead and Charleroi in crisis?
It's the fourth matchday of the Pro League and we can now really talk about teams in form and teams in difficulty. An anomaly: KRC Genk. We're analyzing this weekend's clashes.
OH Leuven vs KRC Genk
Genk’s start to the season is a bit contradictory. On the one hand, they dominate their opponents, playing fluid football with impeccable technical accuracy. On the other, the team from Limburg only got 1 point out of 9. Against Standard, for example, they shot 15 times with more than 70% possession and lost 2-1 at the end of the match.
They're sorely lacking in luck, but also of composure in front of the goal The solution should be Tolu Arokodare. As soon as the striker come on in Sclessin, he made more impact on the defense in 5 minutes than Oh since the start of the match, scoring one of his first touches. Due to transfer rumors, his coach prefers not to have him as a starter, but is that reasonable considering how important he is? We'll get the answer this weekend in Leuven...
Union Saint-Gilloise vs Standard de Liège
Two teams on form, two coaches formerly with the Rouches, a shared first place in the leaderboard, who will finish the weekend on top?
Here's the big challenge of this fixture. Union are, as usual, dominating and have already scored a lot. Standard are solid defensively and are making the most of their strong moments.
However, while Union’s squad are well established, Standard’s are still finding their feet. Last weekend, only Epolo and Fossey were starters last season. Standard are slowly growing in strength and they seem to have a better quality core than in previous seasons. If you want to bet on this match, Union are the favorite, but keep an eye on Standard and Thomas Henry, who succeeds every time he tries...
Charleroi vs Antwerp
Times are hard in Charleroi. After being eliminated in the European cups, the Carolos lost to La Louvière in the derby. A defeat deemed unacceptable by their supporters who are starting to feel disgruntled. With 2 points out of 9, Sporting completely flopped their start to the season. If they're defeated this weekend, the crisis might already really begin.
On the program for them: a complicated reception of Antwerp, who got a big confidence boost when they won this weekend for the first time this season. Our betting tip: Antwerp are riding the wave and win again!
