What are the bets on cycling during the Olympics?
You can bet live or before the start of the races, on the winner, the fastest cyclist, the best climber, and so on. You can also bet on the number of medals won by each country, or which cyclists will stand on the podium.
In cycling, bets are numerous and the Olympic Games offer even more possibilities with the various events. Do you prefer road or track racing? Unless you prefer MTB, or BMX and its many acrobatic tricks. You have loads of choice! Today, cycling is modernizing and blending with older disciplines such as road cycling.
Cycling is very popular in Belgium and many great champions are well known to the public: Merckx, Van Looy, De Vlaeminck, Van Springel, Maertens, Gilbert, Boonen and more.
All of them have thrilled millions of people, their talent has been recognized for many years and continues to be so today. Other Belgian cyclists have also arrived, following on their elders’ heels (or rather the wheels), such as Evenepoel, Van Aert and De Lie. Things are in safe hands!

Some tips to place your bets on cycling
The main advice is to find out about the different cyclists in competition, as well as the type of category and the different events. To do so, you can search for the following information:
● Physical fitness: if the athlete has been ill or has suffered an injury, it can penalize them in the race. Depending on the training sessions, you can already get an idea of the cyclist's physical state before the big finale;
● Psychological state: a strong mental state is very important during competitions. An emotionally weakened athlete can quickly find themselves in an unpleasant position during a race. Physical and psychological weaknesses can nourish opponents, turning them into their own assets;
● The times accomplished over the last few months: it’s necessary to know the results of each athlete, in order to see whether their career is evolving or declining;
● Victories or defeats in cycling competitions: a cyclist with good results and who wins titles is a highly motivated sportsman. And the Olympics are not only a springboard for a career, but also the goal and even the dream of many athletes;
● The cyclist's experience: are they just starting out, or have they been competing for a long time? A cyclist used to competitions and who knows the venues is more comfortable than a novice.
By learning more about the athletes, you can better estimate their journey and skills, to guide you in your predictions and sports bets. Don't hesitate to create a table so you can look at everything at once and update it regularly. You can also create a table with your various predictions and your winning and losing bets.
Here are a few other tips to keep in mind:
● Don't bet on a whim or in the spur of the moment. Your favorite cyclist won't necessarily be among the favorites. You have to analyze their skills, victories, defeats and so on as a whole;
● Don't try to make good your losses at the first failure! Nobody wins every time in the world of sports betting. Losing is normal. By trying to counter your loss with a new bet, you risk defeat once again. Above all, it is an act that favors dangerous and addictive behavior;
● Checking the various odds can help you see where the favorites stand and guide your bets. However, a favorite can also lose and make a big difference. Low odds indicate that the bet is likely to win, while high odds indicate that the bet will be difficult to win. However, a situation can always turn around and, if you bet on high odds and win, the sums can be considerable;
● Bookmakers can help you with your predictions and bets. You can choose between different professionals according to their results. Following a well-known bookmaker can guide you in your choices. But if any of them promise you 100% winning bets, run away! It's a scam, because no one can certify that.
When did cycling become an Olympic discipline?
Cycling was part of the Olympic Games for the first time in 1896, in Athens. New events gradually appeared and others were removed from the list.
It was only in 1984, at the Los Angeles Olympic Games, that women were allowed access to the road cycling events for the first time, with a victory for Connie Carpenter, representing the host country.
There are 4 categories in cycling: on track, on road, MTB and BMX, and many various events within them.

Some recommendations
Playing should remain fun. To help you avoid the vicious circle of addiction, Circus informs and warns you about dangerous online casino and betting behavior.
We have 3 main recommendations and we encourage you to consider them:
● Test your gambling profile: quick and easy, this test allows you to understand your gambling behavior and whether it represents a form of danger or a possible addiction for you, thanks to a series of 8 questions;
● Suspend your profile: sometimes, it's a good idea to log off and stop your online betting/gambling. Being frequently logged in to your account and betting/playing continuously is a dangerous behavior, even a sign of addiction. Please be reasonable;
● Limit the number of deposits you make: avoid continuously adding money to your account, this is already a sign of addictive behavior. By setting yourself a deposit limit and a fixed amount, you avoid overspending.
At Circus, we understand the importance of this addiction problem and have opted for ethical marketing and advertising. As a member of the BAGO (Belgian Association of Gaming Operators), we can only advise you to play with restraint.
Don't let gambling cause harm to you. You can find advice and addresses to help you directly on our website.
How to find help? We suggest many solutions:
● The free SOS Jeux number: you can call 0800/35.777 to tell your problems anonymously and take the first step against addiction;
● A ban on access to online sites and physical casinos: the Gaming Commission suggests you submit a voluntary exclusion request or have a request submitted by a third party;
● A list of help addresses can be found on our Responsible Gaming page.
Play responsibly and good luck!
