Heading to the semifinals!

The best 8 teams in Europe are about to face off to determine the last 4 Champions League teams left standing. Real Madrid, PSG and Barça are the favorites, but 5 other teams are putting it all on the line to prove the doubters wrong. A closer look at the 4 exciting clashes ahead.

 Arsenal – Real Madrid

Let’s jump right in with one of the most eagerly awaited quarterfinal matches. The Gunners will be trying to take down the reigning champions from La Casa Blanca.

After literally reducing PSV to rubble, Arsenal is bursting with confidence and favored to win when they host Real Madrid. It’s worth noting that with 11 goals scored and just 2 against (in an uneventful second leg against PSV after winning 1-7 at Eindhoven), Arteta’s men are undefeated at home.

As for the Merengues, Ancelotti’s crew squeaked through the round of 16 with a narrow win at Metropolitano Stadium. After winning on penalties, the defending champions will have to do much better if they hope to make it to the end of the competition.

But as we all know by now, it’s not enough to simply beat Real Madrid – you’ve got to completely finish them off to qualify.

Bayern – Inter

That same night, the action continues with a battle between two teams that should offer tons of excitement. While Bayern looked like the favorites at first, recent injuries to Dayot Upamecano and Alphonso Davies have leveled the playing field again.

With the leaders of their respective championship drives facing off, Italian and German football are set to go head-to-head. But who will come out on top?

FC Barcelona – Borussia Dortmund

FC Barcelona may be the big favorite this year. By avoiding Real Madrid, Arsenal and PSG, the Catalans are on a glide path to the final.

Yet two obstacles still stand in their way. The first is Borussia Dortmund. After losing in last season’s final, BVB has been far less effective this season, reaching only 10th place in the Bundesliga and barely managing to qualify against LOSC.

The Blaugrana shouldn’t have too much trouble powering through the Yellow Wall, but the Germans may still have some surprises in store.

PSG – Aston Villa

This may be the most imbalanced matchup in this season’s quarterfinals. PSG have been playing superb football this season. Though his side has less star power than in recent seasons, Luis Enrique has kept PSG playing a dominant style and has put together a tight-knit group. PSG fans were reassured by their club’s 5-star performance against Liverpool in the first leg at the Parc des Princes, and by the second leg at Anfield where every player fought for every ball until the win was secured.

Aston Villa got past Club Brugge, but without ever putting on a truly impressive show. It’s tough to imagine them knocking out the Parisians, but we also know that PSG have a tendency to fall apart when the stakes are highest.
