A final to save their season!

It's the moment we've all been waiting for: the Europa League final. A 100% Premier League final where the two teams who've struggled the most this season will take each other on. Who will manage to save their season?

Two teams in a tough spot

This season wasn't exactly stellar for our two finalists. Respectively ranked 16th and 17th just above the first relegated team to the Championship, Man U and the Spurs' scorecards leave much to be desired. 18 defeats for United in the championship and 21 defeats for Tottenham.

In the cups, the two teams played each other in the EFL Cup quarterfinals and it was the Spurs who won 4-3 before falling at the last hurdle before the final against Liverpool. In the FA Cup, neither of the teams reached the quarterfinals.

After being eliminated from all the national cups and dropped in the championship, these two teams really need a win to save their season and secure their European ticket.

Manchester hanging on by a thread

What's the problem with Manchester United? The coach? They've already got a new one. Ruben Amorim, who performed excellently at Sporting Portugal, arrived without realizing the extent of the damage. Despite his best efforts, the Portuguese tactician couldn't get the Red Devils back on track.

A lot of fans are pointing fingers at the player's skills. However, with Bruno Fernandes, Mainoo, Garnacho and Yoro, the team isn't completely devoid of talent. One thing's for sure, Amorim needs to make it work with the men he's got during this final before very likely starting to reshuffle.

Tottenham ravaged by injuries

Vicario, Davies, Van de Ven, Dragusin, Romero, Moore, Richarlison and Odobert. All these players were injured this season and have missed at least 10 matches. For some matchdays, the Spurs had to deal with 10 players in the sick-bay and were forced to bring in very young players who have played in a first team either never, or only a few times. For the final, the Spurs will notably not have Kulusevski and Maddison, which will cause real problems for the attacking midfielder.

Of course, the injuries don't explain everything, but they really shook up the season for the Londoners. With almost all players back in business, Tottenham have everything they need to win their first European trophy since the C3 in 1984.
